Job SummaryWe're looking for a skilled Pipeline Protection Specialist to join our team In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and testing cathodic protection systems, developing plans, and analyzing data to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our pipelines.
Duties and Responsibilities- Travel to various locations to monitor and test cathodic protection systems, utilizing company vehicles and adhering to established safety protocols.
- Develop and implement plans to maintain and install cathodic protection systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Analyze data to identify areas where cathodic protection criteria are not met, and recommend solutions using direct assessment techniques.
- Investigate and analyze electrical interference, conducting surveys and interpreting readings to determine impact on cathodic protection and safety.
- Respond to calls from FortisBC crews, municipalities, or contractors to provide information and guidance regarding cathodic protection systems.
- Input, extract, and update data from various systems, utilizing software applications to prepare reports, graphs, and spreadsheets.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognized certification as a Certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) by the National Association of Corrosion Engineering (N.A.C.E.).
- Four (4) years of directly related experience in the maintenance and operation of cathodic protection systems.
- Working knowledge of corrosion theories and their application to buried pipelines, as well as DC/AC electrical interference.
- The ability to operate Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving record.
