Job Summary:

Talize is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Donation Crew Team Member to join our team. As a key member of our donation processing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our donation centers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers in a professional and enthusiastic manner, and assisting them with their donations.
  • Process donations in a timely and efficient manner, including receiving, sorting, and weighing donations.
  • Stack and label carts/bins, and input data into the receiving spreadsheet to monitor stock levels.
  • Monitor donation bins and transfer items to the back area for processing.
  • Explain the "Do not Accept List" to customers and provide promotional coupons for donations.
  • Action daily OSD audit deficiencies with your supervisor.
  • Properly dispose of unsellable merchandise and hazardous materials.

Health and Safety:

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to company housekeeping standards.
  • Take precautionary measures to prevent external and internal theft.
  • Identify and report hazards to management and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Report employee accidents to management immediately.
  • Wear proper PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, earplugs, and eye wear.
  • Practice safe lifting and handling of merchandise.

Other Duties:

  • Roll racks onto the retail floor to replenish stock, providing customer service and maintaining store appearance.
  • Complete processing of books in stores with an OSD room.
  • Assist in ragging out color tags to make space for new stock.
  • Roll racks as needed from the fitting room and processing department to the retail floor.
  • Maintain professionalism while communicating with peers, managers, customers, and through the store intercom system.
  • Participate in floor changes and the back-stock program.
  • Determine customer needs, offer product recommendations, and inform them of store promotions and events.
  • Answer customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a timely manner.
  • Achieve store sales goals by providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure the register areas and retail floor are stocked at all times.
  • Promote a positive shopping experience by maintaining a visually appealing store.
  • Check fitting rooms and place unwanted merchandise on racks according to sorting standards.
  • Perform all store opening and closing duties.
  • Assist management with sale day preparation and execution.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in retail.
  • Previous work in a thrift retail environment is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift, bailer, or garbage compactor is considered an asset.

  • Physical Strength and Endurance - perform physical requirements throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Organizational Skills - organize received merchandise to efficiently fit in bins/cages.
  • Safety Conscious - possess proper form to effectively and safely conduct manual labor, follow safety guidelines when operating machinery.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Constant bending, reaching, and using hands for repetitive actions.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50lbs without assistance throughout the shift.
  • Pushing and pulling merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to dust - all of designated shift.
  • Exposure to periodic temperature fluctuations and noise levels.
  • Requirements to have open availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Interaction with customers, clients, and the public at large.
