Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our inter-professional health care team, you will provide quality patient-focused nursing care to patients in the medical surgical unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Comply with policies and procedures associated with observations and ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Practice according to the nursing practice expectations set by Osler and the regulatory practice standards of the College of Nurses.
  • Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum two years recent experience in general medicine/inpatient surgery with exemplary clinical practice in the related field.
  • Seniors gentle persuasive approaches training or experience with a seniors population is preferred.
Core Competencies:
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing.
  • Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
  • BCLS required.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills.
  • Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
