Junior Maintenance Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Maintenance Technician to join our team at Lifestyle Options. As a Junior Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance, including minor repairs, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform minor repairs on plumbing and fixtures
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and ensure availability as needed
  • Assist with setup and/or movement of equipment
  • Respond to maintenance inquiries from staff and residents
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to senior maintenance
  • Complete ground maintenance, including snow removal, sanding, and keeping sidewalks and roads free of debris
  • Operate grounds-keeping power equipment and maintain external property
  • Prepare, clean, and sand surfaces to be painted
  • Apply paint to interior and exterior surfaces of building, including resident suites and common areas
  • Work on ladders and participate in Occupational Health & Safety protocols
  • Engage in friendly, polite conversation with residents
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License required
  • Clear criminal record check completed a maximum of three (3) months prior to the 'date of hire' required
  • Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors, and at all levels within the organization required
  • Working towards a trade certificate or diploma in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance would be considered an asset
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate necessary cost control measures
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email
  • Ability to work in an infectious disease outbreak environment and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
