Microbiologist I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiologist I to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing analysis on finished products, raw materials, or packaging materials following established methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform media preparation and growth promotion testing.
• Document all tests, test materials, and equipment used, as well as all results obtained.
• Conduct water testing and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain cultures and identify microorganisms.
• Perform equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Assist with laboratory cleaning, equipment cleaning, and glassware cleaning.
• Assist with incoming sample management.
• Prepare and submit reports as required.
• Work safely and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements:

• College or technical school diploma/degree in Microbiology or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of demonstrated microbiology laboratory experience.
• Experience with SAP/LIMS is an asset.

Working Conditions:

This position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about the laboratory and office locations. The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for prolonged periods is necessary. The position also requires the ability to manipulate light to medium weights (10-35 pounds), arm, hand, and finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, and operate equipment.
