Contract Specialist Job Description

CB Canada is seeking a skilled Contract Specialist to join our team in Calgary, AB. As a Contract Specialist, you will play a crucial role in establishing supplier agreements that reduce risk and add lifecycle value through various sourcing channels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain supplier agreements that meet business needs and reduce risk.
  • Lead and execute sourcing events, including RFPs, RFQs, and single-source awards.
  • Assess RFP requirements and coordinate with internal departments to review contractual obligations and provide information for RFx and contract development.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders through the procurement process to ensure governance and compliance with processes and procedures.
  • Negotiate supplier commercial agreements, including reviewing and advising on risk with agreement terms and conditions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to ensure contracts, amendments, and renewals are approved and executed.
  • Manage and maintain contract documentation, including ensuring suppliers are pre-qualified and supporting contractor performance management as required.
  • Proactively work with Business Unit partners to identify spend opportunities for strategic sourcing and contracting.
  • Support the SC Manager with developing fit-for-purpose policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with SC Manager and general counsel to develop agreement and sourcing templates.
  • Provide executive summaries and business case proposals for executive leadership team review.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years in a procurement role focused on contracting and sourcing.
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Finance, or Purchasing with a satisfactory business component and/or Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA), SCMP Designation or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on Information Systems & Technology (software as a service (SaaS)), construction, and operations projects.
  • Experience in agreement negotiations, including commercial and legal terms and conditions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to problem solve, find alternative solutions, and think creatively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications, with superior skills in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the energy industry is an asset.
