Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Route Supervisor to join our team at Emterra Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety, productivity, and efficiency of our drivers within the collection routes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all residential, garbage, and recycle routes and drivers on a daily basis
  • Plan and monitor employee schedules and route scheduling, including regular communication throughout the day until all routes are completed
  • Ensure that operations are running safely by performing driver observations and monthly safety meetings
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple routes
  • Perform operational audits of collections routes and observation routes
  • Ensure that drivers required to operate company vehicles or equipment are completing daily safety and maintenance checks so that issues are addressed in a timely manner to eliminate or reduce downtime
  • Perform training of new hires
  • Conduct accident investigations, including scene management, first accident report, and final analysis with root cause and preventative measures
  • Maintain Environmental Health and Safety programs, including training, meetings, and required reporting of relevant EH&S issues
  • Maintain adherence to company safety policies and MTO regulations

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of route supervisory experience
  • Valid DZ license (G Class required)
  • Experience operating waste collection equipment is an asset
  • Familiar with route balancing and sequencing techniques
  • Ability to supervise others and ensure excellent performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against set goals, and ensuring feedback to address performance challenges as they arise
  • The skill and ability to cultivate positive working relationships with employees to ensure a team environment
