**Salary Range/Wage Rate:** $2,627.20 bi-weekly plus 6.25% deferred compensation
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Utility Systems Operator to join our team at Metro Vancouver. As a key member of our Liquid Waste Services department, you will be responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of wastewater collection and drainage system facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wastewater collection and drainage system facilities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assist in the inspection and maintenance of equipment, performing routine checks and repairs as needed.
- Conduct system facility inspections and cleaning, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Perform general repairs, housekeeping, and painting tasks, as well as maintenance activities such as gravel removal and vegetation management.
- Operate power tools, mowers, chain saws, jackhammers, and vehicles and equipment to fulfill the needs of the position.
- Perform construction duties such as sanitary/storm sewer repairs, raising and rebuilding of manholes, sanitary/storm sewer connections, road building, and watercourse rehabilitation works.
- Ensure all work carried out adheres to and is in compliance with policies/procedures, including all WorkSafeBC and MV safety policies/procedures.
- Maintain operating records, submit work progress reports, and timecards, etc.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent (Preference will be given if supplemented with courses in civil and mechanical technology, computers, electrical, instrumentation, etc.).
- Preference will be given to those with utility and/or construction experience.
- Mechanical proficiency and construction aptitude.
- Ability to operate power and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate safety awareness.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position and willingness and ability to work shift work as required.
- Willingness to undertake additional training relating to the duties of the position.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.
