Empower Simcoe Foundation Board of Directors

Empower Simcoe is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Foundation Board of Directors. As a member of this esteemed board, you will play a vital role in providing governance oversight, supporting our leadership team, and contributing to the organization's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in monthly board meetings to discuss and decide on key organizational matters
  • Engage in development and training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Advise and evaluate the board's fundraising policy, indicating your expected contribution and participation in fundraising efforts
  • Participate in external community activities and events to increase Empower Simcoe's visibility and reputation
  • Support fundraising activities and remain informed about the organization's programs and services
  • Collaborate with the CEO and board colleagues to oversee the organization's strategic direction and provide input on fundraising efforts and revenue-generating strategies
Requirements
  • Previous board experience or a desire to gain board experience
  • An appreciation of not-for-profit governance and the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families
  • A background in fundraising, event planning, housing development, marketing, entrepreneurship, or banking
  • A commitment to serving for a 2-year term and willingness to consider serving up to four terms
  • A willingness to commit approximately 3-4 hours per month, depending on activities
