Clinical Pharmacy Support Specialist

Baycrest Pharmacy Services supports all inpatient units and programs. As a Clinical Pharmacy Support Specialist, you will provide technical functions related to the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participating in all technical aspects of drug distribution, including repackaging of medications, refilling floor stock, and filling and delivering medication carts to hospital units according to established schedules
- Dispensing narcotic and controlled drugs according to established procedures
- Checking prepared medications for accuracy prior to delivery to hospital units
- Operating and maintaining pharmacy automation and other technologies
- Preparing and compounding non-sterile products according to best standards of practice
- Preparing and compounding sterile products (i.e., intravenous admixtures) according to best standards of practice
- Contributing to pharmacy inventory management, including processes related to purchasing, receiving, and maintaining storage conditions of medications, monitoring usage and expiry dates, and participating in disposal of unusable products
- Maintaining records of workload measurement and statistics
- Teaching pharmacy students as required
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Completion of a Community College Pharmacy Technician Program or equivalent experience
- Licensure as a Registered Pharmacy Technician ('RPhT') with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part-A)
- One year of related experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to work with minimal supervision
- Automation experience an asset, e.g., automated dispensing units
- Computer skills that include the ability to work with Microsoft Office Software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Meditech preferred
This position offers an hourly pay rate of $32.32 - $37.26, with bi-weekly hours of 75 Hours and 7.5 hrs/shift. Additionally, you will have access to benefits, including vacation entitlement, the opportunity to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), extended health and dental benefits, and 24/7 Employee Assistance Program.
