About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health & Addictions Support Worker to join our team at Anew Centre for Healing. The successful candidate will work closely with families to develop and implement personalized plans to address their unique needs.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of family dynamics, addiction, domestic violence, and mental health disorders, as well as understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and the Indigenous culture/history.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting parents/caregivers with finding income support, counseling services, attending medical appointments, attending AA or NA meetings, enrolling in parenting classes, etc.
- Establishing routines for their children, helping them with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, etc., as well as aiding in the planning and attending of cultural and recreational activities.
- Transporting families to and from appointments, court appearances, family visits to home communities, cultural events, etc.
- Documenting daily logs, contact notes, monthly progress reports, etc.
- Providing crisis intervention and assistance with medication administration.
- Maintaining structure, consistency, and effective follow-up on house rules, routines, and appropriate therapeutic interventions as required.
