About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team working across Powell River, Bella Bella, and Bella Coola in BC. As a Speech Language Pathologist with VCH, you will work without general supervision to assess, diagnose, and treat the full range of communication and swallowing disorders for adult clients in various settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders in adult clients
  • Complete client reports, educate clients and families, provide counseling and consultation, and present lectures
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds, risk management, and research, and provide leadership to new employees and Speech-Language Pathology students

The locations of Powell River, Bella Bella, and Bella Coola offer a unique blend of outdoor adventure and cultural amenities. Powell River is situated on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, where endless green mountains meet sheltered Pacific Ocean waters. Bella Bella is a beautiful island community off the central coast of British Columbia, surrounded by a magical world of channels, inlets, and old-growth forest. Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, with a population of about 1800 people.

Qualifications

  • Current full registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia
  • Three years' recent, related speech language practice dealing with adults with acquired communication disorders and dysphagia
  • Valid BC Driver's License for local area travel
