The Manitoba Heavy Construction Association (MHCA) is a recognized leader in promoting sustainable infrastructure investment, workplace safety, and industry growth. As the primary resource for the heavy construction sector, MHCA provides information, networking opportunities, public policy advocacy, and member services.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Policy and Advocacy Lead to join our team at People First HR Services. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of the heavy construction industry through strategic policy advice, public engagement, and effective communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for amplifying MHCA's impact and influencing key stakeholders to drive sustainable growth and prosperity.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement high-impact policy materials, including policy briefs, speeches, and presentations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal policies related to infrastructure investment, economic growth, and workplace safety.
- Analyze economic trends, public budgets, and their impact on the heavy construction sector, providing informed recommendations to influence MHCA's policy advocacy efforts.
- Contribute to the development of the WorkSafely Program by providing policy insights and analysis that promote workplace safety and industry best practices.
- Lead the preparation and management of all MHCA communication materials, including annual reports, marketing collateral, digital content, and thought leadership pieces.
- Serve as a key liaison with government officials, industry partners, and advocacy organizations to support MHCA's policy and public relations objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding and collaborating with a management team at strategic and operational levels.
- Exceptional writing and editing abilities, capable of converting complex legal or policy language into clear, concise, and effective content.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including government officials and industry partners.
- Experience in advocacy, government affairs, and/or media is a key asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
