We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter/Plasterer to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the general painting and decorating of school buildings, furniture, and equipment. This includes ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner, complying with Board and legislative standards and codes, and maintaining Board vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Key Responsibilities- Perform painting and decorating tasks, including lining gym floors and preparing work surfaces accurately and thoroughly.
- Ensure compliance with Board and legislative standards and codes, and maintain Board vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Work independently and with minimum supervision, and possess interpersonal, communication, and listening skills to liaise with co-workers, principals, site supervisors, and other Board personnel.
- Ability to climb scaffolds and ladders on both the exterior and interior of the building, and work in awkward positions or spaces.
- Completion of Secondary School diploma, Ontario Journeyman Certificate of Qualification as a Painter and Decorator, and 5 years experience in residential/commercial buildings.
- Ontario Certificate as Plasterer/Drywaller may also be considered with sufficient painting experience.
- Valid Class 'G' driver's license, or equivalent.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board offers a competitive salary range of $30.99 to $32.17 per hour ($64,459 to $66,914 per year), and a comprehensive benefits package.
