Job Title: Powerline Technician Team Lead

Job Summary:

Valard Construction LP is seeking a skilled Powerline Technician Team Lead to oversee daily activities on our projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on-site crews, ensuring project construction activities comply with project drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead on-site crews to execute project construction activities in compliance with project drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
  2. Implement Valard's safety policies and procedures by leading by example and supporting the adoption of a culture of safety, quality, and production.
  3. Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project construction timelines through the efficient use of on-site construction resources.
  4. Manage subcontractors on site, developing sub contract agreements as required, including tracking of production to maintain the project schedule and contract budget.
  5. Develop project execution plans, kick-off meetings, contract reviews, and scope reviews, while working with Valard's contracts team to ensure a well-rounded project program.
  6. Mentor, train, and motivate job site crews in adopting a culture of safety, quality, and production.
  7. Empower crews to be knowledgeable of company's safety, construction, and quality policies and procedures, and uphold them.
  8. Work closely with the Project Manager utilizing Valard's change management system, while working with the client to review and obtain closure to all RFIs and Cos.
  9. Ensure crew timesheets are completed and submitted consistently and in a timely manner.
  10. Support internal and external audit and inspection activities.
  11. Equipment review and scheduling as required.
  12. Carry-out employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions, in conjunction with Manitoba's HR Representative, as required for non-conformance of company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Able to manage large work groups.
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost, and quality controls.
  • Field-based position, incumbent must be able to accommodate multiple shift requirements based on site-specific project schedules.
  • Preference given to candidates local to Sault Ste. Marie.
