About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and maintain financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for assigned operational groups, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Cost Accounting and Budgeting: Perform cost accounting and budgeting activities, including data analysis, budget preparation, and variance analysis, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular financial reports, including variance analyses and recommendations for improvement, to stakeholders.
  • Financial Systems and Processes: Maintain a current knowledge of financial systems, policies, and procedures, and advise operational groups on the effective use of financial reports and other activity-related information.
  • Special Projects and Initiatives: Participate in special projects and initiatives, including financial policy development, system enhancements, and process improvements, to support business growth and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of directly related relevant experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and presentation skills; ability to work effectively both independently and in teams; strong knowledge of statistical analysis, cost benefit analysis, and related analytical techniques.
