Compassionate Caregiver

As a Registered Practical Nurse with Hospice Care Ottawa, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and their families.
The salary for this position is estimated to be between $80,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
About the RoleThis is a 0.7 FTE position that includes eleven 8-hour shifts at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice and three standby shifts. The successful applicant can pick up extra shifts up to a 1.0 FTE, but this will not increase their regular scheduled shifts.
You will work as part of a team to provide day-to-day end-of-life palliative care to residents in the hospice and their families. This role involves planning, coordinating, delivering, and supporting a team to achieve these goals.
Responsibilities- Plans, coordinates, delivers, and supports a team to provide end-of-life palliative care to residents in the hospice and their families.
- Supervises under the direction and supervision of the Team Leader(s) the care team, including volunteers, provides end-of-life palliative care to the residents in the hospice and provides support to their families.
- Provides guidance and direction to Personal Support Worker (PSW)
- Provides guidance and direction to Residence Volunteers as necessary
- Ensures personal care to patients is carried out appropriately
- Administers medications to residents as prescribed
- Administers treatments to residents as prescribed
- Provides emotional support to residents and families/significant others as appropriate
- Maintains records through charting, ensuring confidentiality
You will also be responsible for liaising with physicians, pharmacies, and other stakeholders as necessary, and participating in education opportunities and committees as required.
