Job Summary:

The Deputy Crew Chief (DCC) plays a crucial role in the success of the Main Operating Base (MOB) by providing supervision to other employees and leading the crew/section in all facets of aircraft maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of maintenance personnel, including task assignment and crew shift management.
  • Provide input to aircraft maintenance schedules and selection of aircraft for flight, deployment, and assignment of overtime.
  • Perform First, Second, and Third Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural, and electrical systems and components, including servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing, and certification.
  • Conduct aircraft release (ARA) when assigned, trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Perform ramp duties, including pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, and installation/removal of required mission equipment and crash and emergency technical response.
  • Conduct ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, where trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry, and deployed operations.
  • Deploy and work at other main operating bases and/or deploy in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties, and ferry flights.
  • Work shift work, as required and/or assigned.
  • Provide on-job-training to other employees.
  • Attend training for trade and professional development and for qualification/certification purposes.
  • Ensure crew/section members complete all assigned training.
  • Remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area. Conduct foreign object debris (FOD) inspections.
  • Ensure hangar, shop, stores, and office areas are clean and swept.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and directives established by the Company.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including power plant, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionic, and power generation and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Flight Safety reporting procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Company Quality Systems procedures.
  • Knowledge of corrosion control techniques.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints, and Standard Plant Procedures.
  • Capable of performing Non-destructive Inspection, where trained, qualified, and authorized.
  • Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performance of duties.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and tow tractors.
  • Graduate of a CH149 type maintenance course.
  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in helicopter maintenance is required, of which 2 has been in a supervisory position.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
