Fire Alarm Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Everguard Fire and Safety. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, programming, and servicing fire alarm and fire protection systems across various industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, including racking up panels, running wiring/cabling, and installing devices and conduit.
  • Work with Emergency Lighting and Monitoring Systems to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Evaluate plans, customer requests, code, and non-conformance issues to determine specific solutions and recommendations for customers and management.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm, fire suppression, and sprinkler systems troubles and concerns, conducting investigations to identify and resolve issues.
  • Prepare stock materials for daily execution of assigned work orders and optimize material utilization to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Support take-offs and prepare proposals/quotations as required, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
  • Complete daily reports of completed work orders and activities, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed, demonstrating safety leadership in all aspects of the job.
  • Mentor other team members, including trainees, to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call/call-out emergency service, providing prompt and effective response to emergency situations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2+ years' field experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems across various industries.
  • College/trade level education in Electronics or Fire Protection Technology.
  • Applicable fire service certifications, jurisdictional regulatory permits, and/or valid CFAA and ASTTBC.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently to deliver high-quality service and support.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to address changing situations and priorities.
  • Knowledge of relevant fire codes and standards, with a demonstrated mindset towards continuous learning.
  • Ability to use/learn technology solutions in the execution of work, with a valid driver's license and ability to travel to and work out of remote client sites.
