Senior Litigation Attorney

As a Senior Litigation Attorney with the Government of Alberta, you will play a key role in upholding justice and serving the public interest. The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service prosecutes individuals charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and provincial statute offenses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fearless, fair, and effective prosecutions, ensuring that the public interest is served and a just result is obtained. Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting legal opinions, briefings, and court documents professionally and appropriately
• Working collaboratively with stakeholders to build a fair and efficient justice system
• Providing expert analysis and advice on complex legal matters
• Prioritizing cases effectively to respond to numerous challenges and demands

To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure. You will also need to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with victims of crime and their families.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership or immediate eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Alberta. A minimum of 11 years of experience in criminal litigation is required, with a proven track record of success in high-pressure situations.
