Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented PH - Switcher FT to join our team at FedEx. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of trailers to and from our unload/load doors and throughout the yard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Trailer Switching: Perform trailer switches by hooking and moving parked trailers from the yard to load/unload doors or from doors to the yard.
  • Communication: Communicate with management and central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
  • Documentation: Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System (YMS) or switcher cards.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
  • Yard Safety: Understand and demonstrate effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Package Handling: Utilize hand-to-surface methods for all package handling.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor system carts, and load gratings.
  • Sorting: Determine the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers, and memorizing information, and sort packages accordingly.
Requirements
  • Education: No minimum education required.
  • Experience: No experience required; six (6) months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator experience preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license and Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
