Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing installation, testing, analysis, maintenance, and repair tasks of any degree of complexity on hospital buildings and grounds, building services, building service equipment, and departmental equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on hospital buildings and grounds, building services, building service equipment, and departmental equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls throughout the facility, making repairs as required in conjunction with appropriate trades where applicable.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and resolve maintenance-related issues.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.

Requirements

  • 3 years' experience in a variety of facets of maintenance of buildings, building services, building service equipment, and departmental equipment.
  • Previous experience in a health care facility would be an asset.
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required.
  • Must be capable of handling power tools and hand tools.
  • Demonstrable ability to perform basic plumbing and mechanical repairs/maintenance.
  • Demonstrable ability to perform basic repairs to doors (including hardware) windows, walls, and floors in a commercial setting.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to effectively handle emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic ability to use Windows-based software programs.
  • Discreet and confidential in all Hospital, patient/resident related matters.

Security Clearance

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
