Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to design and implement backend APIs and services that power our site intelligence platform. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-performance, and scalable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering teams to understand user needs and design backend services and APIs.
  • Lead engineering projects from scoping to implementation to maintenance.
  • Research and propose backend services and APIs based on customer and internal system needs.
  • Implement backend services and APIs using Node/TypeScript, GraphQL/REST/gRPC, and AWS.
  • Perform data modeling and data management using PostgreSQL, Protobuf, and AWS.
  • Monitor, measure, and improve system quality using a data-driven approach.
  • Utilize and contribute to software engineering best practices, including Git, CI/CD, observability, test automation, and more.
  • Mentor and guide the technical development of other engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing data-intensive backend APIs and services at scale.
  • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Proven track record of customer-centric technical leadership and delivering customer value.
  • Solid engineering and coding skills, preferably in Node/TypeScript or another strongly-typed language.
  • Production experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and cloud native architecture.
  • Production experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Production experience with distributed systems, data stores, data modeling, indexing, and associated trade-offs.
  • Production experience with software testing and automation.
