The physician will work in a collaborative environment with other physicians, nurse practitioners, a family practice nurse, and a social worker to support unattached patients who need temporary access to healthcare.
ResponsibilitiesThe locum physician will be responsible for examining patients, taking their histories, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, and advising patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention. They will also consult with other medical practitioners, act as a patient's advocate, prescribe and administer medications and treatments, and report births, deaths, and contagious diseases as required.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. They will also be required to have membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
