About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled EHS Manager to join our team at Dewengineering. As an EHS Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures are effectively implemented and enforced.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all Environmental Compliance activities as required by Federal, Provincial, and Municipal entities for facilities in Ontario and New Brunswick.
- Identify relevant legislation, ensure regulatory compliance, and make recommendations for improvements to processes.
- Review existing and new equipment/process acquisitions for environmental and Health and safety impacts and provide support to ensure that new hazardous materials are not introduced into our processes or products.
- Provide Environmental, Health and Safety onboarding and training as required by company policy and regulatory authorities.
- Manage and improve the facility's Environmental, Health and Safety Management systems, based on ISO 14001 and 45001.
- Perform audits to ensure regulatory compliance and conformance to OHS and EMS requirements.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk.
- Cochair the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure legislated requirements are met.
- Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and liability; proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Develop accident-prevention programs for incorporation into operational policies of the Organization.
- Coordinate departmental Health and Safety activities to ensure implementation of Health and Safety activities throughout the Organization.
- Report to the Organization and to Regulatory bodies in a timely fashion.
- Devising methods to evaluate safety programs and conducting or directing evaluations.
- Evaluate current best practices concerning safety management and participate in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
- Maintain Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register, SDS Database, waste manifests, and other records.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or comparable experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Environment, Health and Safety role.
- Strong working knowledge of OHSA, Environmental regulations as applicable to a manufacturing organization.
- Proficient in multiple software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other industry-related software.
- Proficient in internal and external networking.
- Able to perform detail-oriented tasks utilizing high language and math skills.
