About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Smith + Andersen. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical building systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with municipal and provincial building codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, including structural, architectural, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed project records, including calculations, reports, and technical drawings.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, including design development, construction administration, and project close-out.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience in mechanical building services design, with a strong background in HVAC design and system development.
  • Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with a strong understanding of building codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer, with experience in mechanical layouts and systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
