Main Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to lead our consulting team in developing and delivering comprehensive air quality and climate change services for clients across Canada. This includes managing a team of atmospheric scientists/engineers, conducting air quality dispersion modeling, analyzing air quality, and implementing climate change projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of atmospheric scientists/engineers to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Develop and implement air quality dispersion modeling strategies using CALPUFF and AERMOD.
  • Analyze air quality and assess regulatory compliance to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Conduct meteorology and air quality field work, including the installation of instrumentation to collect valuable data.
  • Create complete and accurate air quality permits for Alberta and BC, ensuring timely submission and approval.
  • Maintain relationships with local regulators to facilitate permit application review and issuance, guaranteeing smooth project progression.
  • Prepare emission inventory and NPRI reports, quantify air pollutant emissions, and assess their impacts on the environment.
  • Implement climate change projects, such as greenhouse gas inventories, emission reductions, energy efficiency initiatives, public disclosure, and verification.
  • Write air quality management and monitoring plans to establish effective strategies for clients.
  • Deliver recommendations and reporting of results, providing actionable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Sustain high levels of productivity while meeting project scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring exceptional quality standards.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to drive successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Possess a BSc in environmental engineering, atmospheric science, or a related field; MS and/or PE are preferred. Alternatively, demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Accumulate 6+ years (10 years preferred) of direct consulting or industry experience, showcasing expertise in air quality analysis and management.
  • Proven track record in leading air dispersion modeling programs using CALPUFF and AERMOD.
  • Experience working on Environmental Assessments to develop a deep understanding of air emissions and emission reporting processes.
  • Proficiency in hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension to analyze complex data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
