About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Vaco. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete all bank reconciliations for Canada on a timely basis, including preparing journal entries associated with the bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure the month-end process is completed efficiently, allowing the finance team to close the month on schedule.
  • Prepare absorption reports on a monthly basis, providing valuable insights into our financial performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly cost center review report and distribute the cost center analysis and management reports to managers.
  • Manage the monthly QST and HST returns and filings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Audit - Prepare working papers, analysis, and support for auditors, providing a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Complete certain account reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of our financial records.
  • Clear accrued freight and purchases, investigating any discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
  • Process customer volume rebates and third-party commission, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Perform monthly third-party inventory billing calculations, providing accurate and timely results.
  • Support Statistics Canada filings regarding sales and inventory figures, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Support the finance team with analyzing GL accounts and resolving issues, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Coordinate the issuance of certificates of insurance for the company, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Support the Controller, Finance Director, and Finance staff as needed, providing a high level of support and expertise.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Controller and Finance Director, ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A college/university diploma/degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Accounting designation (or near completion) is preferred.
  • 3 years' of general accounting experience.
  • Exposure to food manufacturing and distribution an asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Time management and adaptability to change.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.
