Position Summary

Interior Health Authority is seeking a Casual Medical Office Assistant to join their team at Castlegar District Health Centre. This is a Casual opportunity, which means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from week to week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients, including scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Answer telephones, respond to general correspondence, maintain accurate records, and perform various administrative tasks
  • Manage medical/surgical supplies and equipment, and other resource materials
  • Escort patients to examination/treatment rooms and ensure necessary instruments and supplies are available
  • Perform routine measurements, such as weight and BMI calculations, and assist with sensitive examination procedures and treatments
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Medical Office Assistant certificate from an accredited Community College
  • Two years of recent experience in a healthcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid BC Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet software, and clinical information systems
