Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of data architecture and analytics solutions for SaskEnergy's Digital, Technology, and Security (DT&S) group. This includes designing and implementing data management systems, developing data models, and ensuring data quality and integrity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management principles, including data design, architecture, management, modeling, quality, and analytics. They will also have experience with Microsoft Analytics Tools and proficiency in Microsoft SQL.

The Senior Data Engineer will work closely with the Enterprise Analytics team to deliver strategies and roadmaps, develop reference architectures and models, and consult with DT&S and Business leaders on data and information management practices and governance.

The key skills and knowledge areas required for this role are outlined in Appendix C – Supplementary Specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and addressing database issues and problems, providing insight into changing database integration, storage, and utilization requirements, and offering suggestions for solutions.

The Senior Data Engineer will also be responsible for overseeing the integration of data from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions, developing and influencing Content Management and Data Management programs and governance, and possessing expert knowledge of data management as laid out by Data Management Association (DAMA) and the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK).

The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership and facilitation skills in communicating technical information effectively, educate staff members through training and individual support, and have knowledge and exposure to data privacy and confidentiality regulations such as Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The Senior Data Engineer will work closely with business leaders, including presenting to senior management and the Executive, and will be responsible for championing efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, content management, data integration, and related data management or data infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of data management principles, data design, architecture, management, modeling, quality, and analytics, and will be able to work effectively in a team environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
