We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabrication Specialist to join our team at City Welding Sudbury (2015) Limited. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for fabricating metal structures and components using heavy-duty machines.

About the Job

This is a challenging role that requires strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to lay out reference points and patterns, assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures, and weld or bolt sections together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lay out reference points and patterns using precision instruments
  • Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures
  • Weld or bolt sections together to create complex metal structures
  • Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines such as shears, presses, and drill presses
  • Construct patterns and templates to guide fabrication processes
  • Install fabricated components into final products
  • Rig, hoist, and move materials to storage areas or within the worksite
  • Read blueprints and drawings to ensure accuracy and quality

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in metal fabrication or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and MS Windows
  • Experience with equipment and machinery such as AutoCAD and steel-toed safety boots
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with transportation options including public transportation and owning a vehicle
