Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school buildings and equipment, ensuring compliance with Board, local, and provincial government operational and health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the facilities department.
Requirements:
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Compliance with health and safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
  • Updated WHMIS training.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with adolescents and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
