Visual Storyboard Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Visual Storyboard Director to join our team at Sphere Animation.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Lead in a Layout department on a 2D animated series and a strong understanding of the pipeline of a 2D animation series.

Job Description

As a Visual Storyboard Director, you will be responsible for working in collaboration with the Layout Supervisor to ensure that both the technical and artistic requirements of the project are met.

You will participate in the layout analysis breakdowns, identify key layouts based on established methods and project requirements, and support the Layout Supervisor in assigning tasks to the layout artists.

You will also assist in the approval process for layouts, ensuring they meet both the artistic and technical standards as per the project, and provide technical and artistic guidance to the layout team to foster growth and improve workflow.

In addition, you will participate in team meetings, communicate relevant updates to the production team and layout artists, and promote a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in layout analysis breakdowns with the Layout Supervisor
  • Identify key layouts based on established methods and project requirements
  • Support the Layout Supervisor in assigning tasks to the layout artists
  • Assist in the approval process for layouts
  • Provide technical and artistic guidance to the layout team

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Lead in a Layout department on a 2D animated series
  • Degree in animation art, multimedia or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of Toonboom Harmony and Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of the pipeline of a 2D animation series

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
