About the Role:
The Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team as a Clinical Leader in Nephrology. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, with a focus on nephrology and dialysis care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and interventions, including prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Collaborate with surgeons, interventional radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to manage dialysis access placements and referrals to related specialties.
- Provide clinical leadership for Home Dialysis staff and reduce fragmentation in delivery of nephrology patient care across multiple sites and models of care.
- Participate in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities utilizing best practice in Nephrology patient care.
- Work collaboratively with operational and medical leadership to ensure that all patients are assessed and offered a home dialysis modality while mitigating or removing real or perceived barriers.
- Assist with home peritoneal and home hemodialysis clinics and discussions across the continuum of the patient's kidney care journey to meet the wholistic needs of each patient.
- Provide coverage as needed to other program NPs located at other sites in Edmonton, providing a variety of care including inpatient nephrology and hemodialysis.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
- Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
