Mainline Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Mainline Hoe Operator to join our team of skilled professionals. Reporting to the Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the construction hoe and other heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the hoe and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and regulations.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, clean, lubricate, and refill as necessary to maintain peak efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with ground personnel to excavate and install water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipe on line and grade.
  • Ensure trenches are excavated to the proper depth and grade, meeting contract specifications.
  • Responsible for the placement of water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipe in the excavation, adhering to all relevant safety protocols.
  • Follow directions from the ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement, and grading to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to maintain production schedules.
  • Conduct trench work that meets Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements, prioritizing worker safety.
  • Operate the hoe on public roadways, maintaining awareness of surroundings and adhering to all relevant traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ensure a sound understanding of ground disturbance issues and take necessary precautions to mitigate risks.
  • Be aware of proper rigging of pipes, manhole barrels, etc., and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in related construction activities.
  • Class 5 license with a clean abstract.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • 2-3 years' experience operating a hoe is required.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
