We are seeking a seasoned Chief Asset Manager to join our team at Investment Management Corporation of Ontario.

Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to lead the management of our $10 billion Real Estate portfolio, with a focus on active asset management within our Canadian direct real estate portfolio.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in real estate investment and will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of our Real Estate portfolio strategy. This includes leading asset & portfolio management initiatives, capital and leasing management, financial analysis, and relationship building.

A strong leader, you will provide day-to-day direction, guidance, leadership, and mentoring to Principals, Associate Portfolio Managers, and Analysts within the IMCO Real Estate team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute asset plans and strategies focusing on areas of leasing, operations, ESG, development, and hold/sell recommendations.
  • Manage market research and evaluate the performance of the Real Estate portfolio relative to key benchmarks.
  • Develop proposals to enhance risk-adjusted performance of the overall Real Estate Strategy.
  • Prepare investment performance commentaries for internal and external distribution.
  • Continuing to explore opportunities to internalize or expand asset management function to improve oversight and performance.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant real estate investment industry experience.
  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian real estate market with hands-on asset management and transactional experience.
  • Experience implementing investment strategies and plans, managing significant capital budgets, identifying value creation opportunities, leasing, operations, and co-ownership structures.
  • Experience with sustainability practices and initiatives in real estate, including GRESB and LEED certifications.
  • Understanding of real estate risk management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage, mentor, and grow a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Excellent written and communication skills required to report complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $200,000 per year, plus comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement savings plan matching.
