Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects. This will involve reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements, as well as operating CADD and other computer software systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
  • Project cash flow and financing requirements
  • Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms
  • Utilize quantity take-off procedures
  • Advise on tendering procedures
  • Analyze tenders and recommend awards
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
  • Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience in construction estimating or a related field
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in CADD and other computer software systems
