About the Role

Plains, a leading transportation and midstream provider, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Fort Whyte facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a key member of our Operations department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our pipeline system.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled tradesperson with experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation of stationary and rotating equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues on our pipeline system.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment in accordance with training, design parameters, instructions, assignments, schedules, and priorities set by the manager.
  • Ensure equipment reliability and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Operate heavy equipment as required.
  • Provide technical input and assist with scope development for operations, projects, and turnarounds.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment and associated mechanical items.
  • Review and evaluate original equipment and manufacturer manuals, blueprints, schematics, and control and process documentation to synthesize and integrate into test and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor, detect, log, resolve, and escalate operational, environmental, and safety issues, including equipment and material deficiencies.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of equipment, materials/supplies, and documentation.
  • Create and maintain records and documentation and submit work orders, requests, and reports as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Certified Interprovincial Journeyperson—Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification.
  • Working knowledge of engine and pump operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Line locating, pigging, and pipefitting experience considered an asset.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and understanding of welding procedures an asset.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills and ability to complete computer-based training.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret equipment manuals, service notices, and related electronic communication and data.
  • Able to occasionally lift or carry moderately heavy equipment or parts and position them during maintenance activities.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and walk distances in all types of terrain.
  • Able to work outdoors in extremes of heat and cold.

What We Offer
