Job Summary:

As an Advanced Care Paramedic with Alberta Health Services, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical care to patients in need. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess emergency scenes and patients to determine the level of care required
  • Administer medications and provide advanced life support to patients
  • Transport patients to medical facilities using ambulances or other modes of transportation
  • Lead ALS crews in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes
  • Ensure ambulances and other EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped

Requirements:
  • Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider certification
  • Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent
  • Five-year driver abstract with no more than six demerits
  • Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation

Working Conditions:

The working environment for an Advanced Care Paramedic is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment. You will also be required to travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations, and may be exposed to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids.


Physical Demands:

The working conditions for an Advanced Care Paramedic are also physically demanding. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105lbs, while transporting and transferring patients, supplies, and equipment. You will also be required to stand and sit for extended periods, bend, twist, side-carry up to 20lbs in each hand, and assume awkward positions.
