Operator Specialist

At the Pacific National Exhibition, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment pertinent to our live events and entertainment productions. This includes the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of technical machinery and vehicles.
We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of various equipment used in live events, film production, and other entertainment presentations. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating specialized equipment and have a commitment to excellence in all aspects of their work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting work orders, maps, and blueprints for all year-round events and self-produced events.
- Servicing and maintaining equipment frequently used in construction and live entertainment trades.
- Suggesting improvements to equipment and equipment-related procedures.
- Working effectively with diverse production teams, including management, staff, contractors, and the public.
- Setting standards for equipment and vehicle cleanliness.
- Ensuring work is completed within specified time frames and notifying supervisors if difficulties arise.
- Operating vehicles and equipment as required for maintenance, construction, event, and concert prep/strike and snow removal.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package and opportunities for growth and development.
Requirements:
- Valid 5th class BC Driver's license and the ability to provide a clear and up-to-date Driver's Abstract.
- Forklift Certification required.
- Must be trained and have experience on the following equipment: Skid Steers, forklifts, zoom booms, sweeper trucks, flusher tractors, Ice resurfacing machines, UTV's, Snow removal equipment, loaders, blowers, hotsie pressure washers, scissor lifts, and scrubbers.
- Must maintain valid equipment certifications.
- Knowledge of WorkSafe BC Regulations, FLHA, and SOG's Policies.
- Previous experience operating a Hiab or mobile crane is considered an asset.
