Job Summary

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a highly skilled Accountant II to join our Financial Services Department. This role will perform intermediate accounting work, including account analysis, financial report preparation, and statistical record maintenance. The successful candidate will also supervise a small team and perform month-end close procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform intermediate accounting work, including account analysis and financial report preparation
  • Maintain accounting and statistical records

  • Review monthly budget reports and ensure expenditures are within approved budgets
Requirements
  • High school graduation plus professional accounting designation and considerable related experience (municipal experience desirable)
  • Preference may be given to candidates with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting methods and procedures
  • Ability to prepare and analyze accounting and budget reports
  • Experience supervising and assigning work to a small team
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Ability to meet deadlines and accomplish time-sensitive work in a proactive manner
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills
