About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Winter Patroller to join our team at Miller Maintenance. As a Winter Patroller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our communities by performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and implementing emergency plans.

As a key member of our winter maintenance team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment, including snowplows and salt spreaders, and will work closely with our Foreperson to ensure that all maintenance activities are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways, including snowplowing, salting, and sanding
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills and accidents, during inclement weather
  • Implement emergency plans and provide traffic control at accident scenes as per contract requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
  • Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Foreperson
  • Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment
Requirements
  • DZ license
  • Experience in snow and ice control, along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
