Job Description- This permanent full-time position involves developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- The ideal candidate will lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children on outings to local points of interest.
- A key aspect of this role is encouraging children to express their creativity through various mediums such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- The successful candidate will guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Additionally, they will observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents or guardians.
- Attendance at staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children is also required.
- The Early Childhood Educator will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers working with children.
- They will plan and maintain a safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
- Responsibilities also include planning and organizing activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
- Supervision and coordination of activities of other early childhood educators and assistants are also expected.
- This position is located in a child care centre where relocation costs are covered by the employer.
- The work setting is dynamic, with opportunities to make a positive impact on the lives of young children.
- A relevant certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years is required.
- Experience of 1 year to less than 2 years in a related field is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will possess efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to teamwork and values.
- Creativity and punctuality are essential qualities for success in this role.
The estimated annual salary for this position is between $50,000 to $60,000 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience.
