Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Activity Aide to join our team at Craiglee Nursing Home in Scarborough. As an Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing recreation programs that cater to the diverse needs of our residents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group recreation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to and from programs, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
  • Monitor resident behaviors and conditions during programs and report any significant changes to the Program Manager and nursing staff.
  • Participate in the development and revision of programs under the guidance of the Program Manager.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of resident activities and progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved Activation/Gerontology Degree or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of working experience in a related field, preferably in geriatric care.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with excellent documentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning, resident assessments, and program development.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
  • Capacity to plan, implement, and evaluate new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
