Job Title: Drywall Finisher Apprentice

At 86 Drywall, we are seeking a skilled Drywall Finisher Apprentice to join our team. As a Drywall Finisher Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting experienced finishers in the installation and finishing of drywall and plastering systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the installation of drywall sheets and plastering systems
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for finishing
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Utilize laser alignment systems
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall finishing and installation
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift and move heavy loads
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
