About the Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will be part of a dynamic team at the University Health Network (UHN), Canada's largest research teaching hospital. As a Clinical Perfusionist, you will play a vital role in supporting Toronto's biggest and busiest suite of ORs, conducting 1750 cardiac surgeries each year.

The UHN's Perfusion Services is actively involved in various programs, including Transplant, Organ Regeneration, ECLS, and Ventricular Assist Device Programs. You will have access to state-of-the-art technology to assist surgical teams in handling complex cases.

Responsibilities
  • You will maintain and optimize circulatory support for patients requiring cardiopulmonary bypass during cardiac and non-cardiac procedures.
  • You will assemble, operate, and monitor myocardial preservation during CPB.
  • You will assess patient needs and independently respond to and deliver appropriate therapies.
  • You will provide additional therapeutic services, such as administering medical gases, anesthetics, drugs, blood products, and crystalloid solutions.
Requirements
  • A minimum BSc degree with a diploma in Cardiovascular Perfusion.
  • Certification or eligibility with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) or American Board of Clinical Perfusion (ABCP).
  • Thorough knowledge of extracorporeal physiology and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, and practices.
