About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospital Director to lead our veterinary hospital operations. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership
    • Directly oversee all hospital operations and business activities, leading a team of department managers and staff.
    • Partner effectively with the Medical Director to ensure the overall management of the hospital and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives, including growth initiatives and process improvements.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide coaching and mentoring to team members to ensure their growth and development.
    • Collaborate with the Medical Director to establish and maintain a positive hospital culture that supports the needs of clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Strategic Orientation
    • Develop a deep understanding of the local market and relationships with referring general practice veterinarians to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
    • Participate in and support planned marketing events and programs to promote the hospital and its services.
    • Identify and execute short- and long-term plans for growth, including the addition of new services, recruitment of doctors and other key team members, pricing strategies, space optimization, and acquisitions of new equipment.
  • Financial Analysis & Planning
    • Oversee accounting and finance processes within the hospital, including the creation of an annual operating budget and regular review of financial statements.
    • Lead hospital financial activities, including monthly review of financial statements and implementation of corrective actions in response to variances and trends.
    • Apply continuous improvement principles to existing financial and operating processes, ensuring effective communication and feedback with doctors and hospital staff.
    • Own the Profit and Loss statement and ensure the hospital meets and exceeds expected financial results.
    • Review accounts receivable to ensure timely and proper processing.
    • Oversee payroll processing on a biweekly basis.
  • Business Operations
    • Drive results across all elements of the business, setting goals and evaluating progress toward objectives.
    • Help each team member develop a deep understanding of the hospital's mission, vision, and values, and how their work contributes to business goals.
    • Partner with Ethos and technology providers to support and enhance hospital activities and the experience of clients and referring veterinarians.
    • Direct growth activities to support business objectives and plans, providing thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate hospital leadership and the entire team.
    • Understand lean principles and identify opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies.
    • Understand how to grow and develop De Novo locations as the market allows.
    • Oversee administration and review of non-medical client complaints.
    • Oversee billing, calculations of any discounts, and other special accounts.
    • Oversee client flow to ensure timely and professional treatment of clients and patients.
