Job Summary

Mon Sheong Foundation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at our Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and social needs are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to residents, promoting their dignity and respect for their rights;
  • Supervise and assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene;
  • Observe and report any changes in residents' behavior, emotional, social, and physical patterns;
  • Interact with residents who may have language barriers, sensory deficits, or communication aids;
  • Provide oral and dental care, maintain oral tissue integrity, and observe for problems;
  • Maintain skin, nail, and foot care to promote skin integrity and comfort;
  • Assist residents with adaptive aids, prosthetics, and mobility aids;
  • Support residents with feeding aids, texture-modified food, and cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support;
  • Implement universal precautions and isolation techniques according to infection control policies and procedures;
  • Identify and implement emergency measures;
  • Collect and monitor resident information;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate from an Ontario postsecondary institution or district school board;
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification;
  • 1 year of experience in a long-term care facility;
  • Medical certificate of good physical and mental health;
  • Demonstrated interest in working with elderly, with patience, compassion, kindness, and creativity;
  • Ability to work rotating day/evening/night shifts and alternate weekends;
  • Proficiency in oral and written English; bilingual in Chinese is preferred.
