Geriatric Care Manager

**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Nurse to join our team at Newvista. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of living standards for our residents.
In this role, you will co-ordinate, implement and evaluate multi-disciplinary care and programs, providing leadership to care staff in achieving planned individualized care and completion of other responsibilities. You will function as a senior member of the health care team, working closely with the Director of Care or designate to ensure the delivery of exceptional resident care.
Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating resident care, performing direct resident care such as administering medications, applying treatments and conducting resident assessments. You will also prepare, maintain and update resident records, provide and receive resident information from various sources and assist Resident Care staff with basic care tasks as required.
**Qualifications and Experience**
To be successful in this role, you will have a graduation from a recognized nursing program, current practicing registration with the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of British Columbia, and a minimum two (2) years' nursing experience, preferably in a geriatric setting. You will also possess demonstrated ability to direct the activities of non-professional staff and coordinate activities of the health care team, as well as special interest in and concern for the welfare and care of the elderly.
The ideal candidate will be confident and professional in their manner, with personal beliefs about nursing congruent with the philosophy of the department and the facility. You will also possess physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including performing moderately heavy work involving transferring of residents, walking, stooping and standing, as well as ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
