Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic III-1 to join our team at PCI Pharma Services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient setup and operation of various packaging and production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate packaging lines, perform changeovers, and support tooling handling and cleaning.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure production runs are executed efficiently, with high quality and minimal waste.
  • Identify and tackle continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Use sound technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair packaging and production equipment.
  • Perform and plan regular preventative maintenance on packaging and production equipment, including overhauls.
  • Ensure cleaning protocols are followed for all packaging equipment.
  • Assist with facilities maintenance as needed.
  • Participate in projects as assigned, including installation and moving of equipment.
  • Implement and support a safe work environment.
  • Tackle root cause and risk assessment investigations on equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety practices, standard sops, and job-specific packaging procedures.
  • Review machine manuals to achieve optimal equipment run conditions.
  • Participate and support project execution, including documentation and moving of assets.
  • Assist in writing equipment-related SOPs and validation/calibration documents.
  • Utilize the site's CMMS to initiate and complete maintenance work orders.
  • Lead and support equipment and product qualification processes, as well as technical service visits.
  • Ensure appropriate communication is relayed to other shifts.
Requirements
  • Experienced Licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A), and/or 6 to 10 years of working experience exclusively as a technician in a pharmaceutical packaging environment.
  • Experienced Licensed Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (442A or 309A), with strong electrical and technical aptitude and/or 6 to 10 years of working experience.
  • General technical knowledge and experience concerning electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC.
  • Familiarity with fill, blistering, bottling, capping, carton packaging, and serialization equipment is a strong asset.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Core skills in Mathematics and English usually associated with grade 12.
  • Interpersonal skills to work co-operatively with Line Leaders, Packagers, and Project Coordinators/Managers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (442A or 309A) or electrical aptitude able to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Fabrication and basic TIG welding.
  • Experience as a technician working on complex pharmaceutical or food packaging equipment.
  • Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
